Supervision

I offer supervision to students and qualified counsellors. I am also able to offer supervision to health care professionals, Christian ministers and church workers and teachers.

I am BACP registered and accredited and hold honours degrees in both counselling and in education (both 2:1 degrees). I hold a diploma in counselling supervision.  I have designed and taught counselling courses for Kent Adult Education and have experience of teaching up to and including Diploma level. I am co-founder and lecturer at Counselling World, a counselling training organisation.  I have taught for over 35 years and have been in management in this field. I will  draw on my training experience in our sessions together.

My approach to supervision is one of equal, shared cooperation, looking together at the best ways of helping clients move forward, ethically.  I aim to provide a safe space for reflection and challenge. Supervision is not about me telling you what to do.  I see feedback as a 2-way process- me providing feedback to you on your work with clients and you providing feedback to me on the helpfulness of my supervision style.  I aim to support you in developing your unique counselling style.

I am experienced in couple counselling and outdoor therapy. I am trained in working directly with Christian spirituality in the counselling room.   I also hold a Level 5 certificate in counselling children and young people.  I am experienced in working online, by phone and by email and can also offer these ways of doing supervision too.

My personal counselling style is integrative and creative.  My approach draws heavily on gestalt theory, but is also informed by mindfulness, person-centred theory, compassion-focused theory, internal family systems, CBT, amongst others. I am constantly reading and training further to enhance my work.  I include this information, not because I want to make you into the same style of therapist to me, but so you can see where my experience and passion lie and if this would be a good fit with who you are as a counsellor at this point in your journey.

I offer supervision on a Wednesday or Friday afternoon.

Please feel free to email or phone for more information. If you phone, please leave a message with your number and I will get back to you as I am rarely able to answer my phone directly.  I charge £55 for a 60 minute session or £82.50 for an hour and a half together. I am happy to offer one off consultative supervision if I am not able to take you on on a regular basis, or if your current supervisor does not hold have the area of expertise you need with a certain client.  We can also use the time for some one to one training in an area you would like more support in.  Please see the Courses page for details of what can be offered and the cost of this.  I look forward to hearing from you.
